BrewDog Zeitgeist
O curioso rótulo desta cerveja tem a seguinte história subjacente: "The design and illustration was the result of a competition which BrewDog ran with Dundee University Art School. A brief was pitched to the 3rd year illustration students and the amazingly talented Heather Brennan stole the show with her amazing design which shows a military line up with the identities of the characters being hidden by sheep masks".

A proposta é a de uma Schwazbier com 4,9% ABV ou, como refere a empresa, uma Black Lager. A descrição comercial é a seguinte: "Zeitgeist is an ideosyncratic alternative black lager It seeks to recreate the spirit, attitude and autonomy of an age gone by. Its inspiration is found more than 200 years ago. Zeitgeist takes an age old classic, a forgotten masterpiece and gives it relevance and an avant-garde edge. Zeitgeist encapsulates our view of contemporary society, yet simultaneously endeavours to improve it. There is too much conformity. Not enough thought, not enough individualism, not enough alternatives. Our military line ups represent conformity to a higher authority, be it political, brand, celebrity, religion or trend. The subjects in our dystopian landscape further seek to repress their identity through uniforms and masks. Yet underneath their body shapes reveal cracks of personality and individualism. Zeitgeist is about identity, non-conformity and idiosyncrasy. It is a collective, an idea, a movement. It is about giving up ownership of itself to those who care enough to listen."
De cor castanho bastante escuro, espuma
beige com média formação e média retenção. No nariz a predominância vai para o malte torrado, que na boca transmite uma forte sensação de "seco". Nota-se uma boa presença do lúpulo mas está bem encoberto pelo torrado do cereal. No sabor também café e chocolate negro. É uma cerveja relativamente simples e equilibrada, fácil de beber e surpreendentemente refrescante. Corpo médio e carbonatação leve.
Uma Black Lager muito bem executada. Não é propriamente o meu estilo de eleição mas não me importava nada de beber isto todos os dias.
